Bsides London 2024 - Call for Papers/Workshops/Rookies

BSides London 2024, 'Clean Up on AI... 2024' edition, will be back on Saturday 14th of December 2024, at the Novotel London West 1 Shortlands Hammersmith International Centre, London, W6 8DR

We will hosting three talk tracks, several workshops and our famous Rookie speakers track on the 14th December 2024.
All tracks are in person only and cannot be presented remotely.

Types of Submission

Please use the form to submit your proposal. You will have the option to select what type of submission you are making. These are the options:
Talk is our standard 45 minute(ish) presentation in the main tracks, open to everyone!
Workshop Workshop proposal. Pass your knowledge on to others! Note two options available here for short (2 hours) or long (4 hours) workshops.
Rookies track This is aimed at first time public speakers, other then that there are no other restrictions to apply. 15 minute presentations. Mentor support can be supplied if needed (we would recommend having one!).

Scope

We're looking for original contributions that are interesting topics of research about any security related, attack, defence, analysis, design, application, protocol, system, practical experience, theory, in fact, anything that would be interesting to the wider community.

As usual the conference theme is not prescriptive of the presentations, proposals may include (but are not limited to) the following topics:
- Information technology
- Network security & Cryptography
- Web Application security
- Mobile security
- Usable security
- Virtualisation and cloud computing
- Innovative attack / defence strategies
- Forensics / Malware
- Embedded device security / IoT
- Physical security and lockpicking
- Biometrics
- Hardware hacking
- Biohacking and modification
- Open source software
- Robotics (Always bonus points for bringing an actual robot)
- Massive abuse of technology
- Evolutionary computing
- General cyber security
- Security management
- Ethical and philosophical implications of hacking

Dates and notifications:

All 'Calls' will close on the 13th October, we will be aiming to get the talk and workshop presentation selection done by the 20th October, with all presenters notified by the 22nd October as to whether their submission has been accepted.
If accepted, we will need a confirmation from you ASAP, so that the schedule can be released, we are aiming to release the schedule on, or around, the 1st November.

What is Bsides...?

Each BSides is a community-driven framework for building events for and by information security community members. The goal is to expand the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time. It creates opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. It is where conversations for the next-big-thing are happening.

As BSides London is a free to attend, community led conference organised and run by volunteers, we cannot reimburse the travel/accommodation expenses of our speakers. Speaking at BSides means professional prestige as you can share the stage with great presenters and IT security experts, and it is a good opportunity to start your speaker career.
If you are coming from abroad, London is a great destination, that offers verity of art culture and entertainment opportunity within the city and the venue is located within a short underground ride into London central.
