DESCRIPTION:In the cyber security world there are many challenges faced by
numerous different people. One of those groups are those who are disabled\
, there is 16.1 million people (24% of the population) in the UK who are c
onsidered disabled and yet they are rarely taken into account when new pol
icies are being made. \nI want to bring to light this issue specifically w
hen it comes to passwords\, for able bodied people they are already a pain
but for those of us who are disabled they are a nightmare and even new te
chnologies like MFA can be more of a burden than they set out to be. \nI'm
proposing some solutions to this like the wonderful world of password man
agers and even physical storage for passwords and shining light on some ou
tdated views like the dreaded password expiry that in fact only makes acco
unts less secure. \nNow\, you may wonder who am I to be speaking on such a
sensitive topic\, I am a Cyber Security student from Manchester Metropoli
tan University and I have been disabled since the age of 4. I have seen fi
rst hand the struggles that those with different disabilities to me face a
nd I also have first hand experience with some of those struggles.\nMy in
tention is to hopefully get you all thinking about how you can make your w
orkplace more accessible and implementing some ideas to make everyone's li
fe easier but especially for those who already struggle.
